Step-1: Login to your cPanel account and select “File Manager” under the FILES section.

Step-2: cPanel File manager will open and now select the appropriate domain/folder if you have multiple websites hosted. 

Step-3: If you are not able to see the .htaccess file, click on the “Settings” button in the File Manager. You can find the “Settings” button on the Right Side of the top menu. One small window will open. Check box the “Show Hidden Files (Dotfiles)” option and click on the “Save” button. Now you must be able to see the .htaccess file. If it does not exist, create a new one.

Step-4: Now Right click on the .htaccess file and then on “Edit“. 

Step-5: An small “Code Editor” window will open, click on the “Edit” button to proceed further and it will open a new window where you can edit the file.

Step-6: Now make all changes to your .htaccess file and then click on the “Save Changes” button to save it permanently. (Note: We recommend to take the backup of files/folders before you are going to make changes.)
